Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of
blindness in the world. The loss of sight is due to eventual death of
certain nerve cells in the back of the eye. My research aims to determine
which cells preferentially die and the characteristics that make them more
susceptible. To achieve this, we are using a combination of satellite
imaging (developed during the cold war for photographing missile and
weapon sites) and histochemical techniques.
